Description:

Escaliers / Staircase was a video and sculptural installation by Sarah Shamash developed while in residence at Western Front. The work reflected on one of the canons of architecture: the staircase. Alluding to greater questions of existence on a micro scale, the work featured a ten-metre metal filigree sculpted staircase and screen-projected video that explored the spatial relationship of the winding staircase, as an inbetween space, to a psychic space.
