Field:

Concert, Installation

Location:

Gallery, Western Front

Description:

Alvin Lucier's Music on a Long Thin Wire is a unique sound piece where an electrical signal vibrates a thin wire that is stretched across a room. The vibrations create sounds that change as they travel along the wire, producing evolving tones that are affected by the wire’s tension and the acoustics of the room.

At Western Front, Music on a Long Thin Wire played in the gallery for twenty-four-hours each day.
His residency in Vancouver concluded with a performance at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre.

Presented as part of Performance/Space.
Smiling, Alvin Lucier wears a cowboy shirt and stands with his hands in his pockets. He is behind a wood table that holds a musical device.
