Description:

This single-channel video presents two distinct takes in which Oraf Orafsson appears seated at a news desk delivering a script on greed as the sole and inescapable force shaping society and its inevitable destruction. In the first take, Orafsson appears unmarked and composed, performing the role of a conventional broadcaster. In the second take, he repeats his  monologue verbatim but with his head and hands wrapped in bandages. As the video progresses, his bandages become increasingly soaked in blood.

Superimposed behind both takes is video documentation of Orafsson in a suit walking through Vancouver’s business district while holding a large grave stone engraved with the word “GREED.” Red paint drips down the side of the stone, evoking blood in a meditation on capitalism, power, and social collapse.

Video documentation is available upon request.
