While in residence at Western Front, pianist and electronic musician Wayne Horvitz engaged deeply with Vancouver’s improvising community, collaborating on new recordings, live performances, and public programs.
His visit opened with a reception in the Grand Luxe Hall, where he joined local musicians in a spontaneous performance. He later participated in a panel discussion on improvisation as part of the Soundcheck series.
The residency culminated in a concert in the Grand Luxe Hall featuring Hovitz’s longstanding trio with Butch Morris and Bobby Previte and collaborations with Vancouver-based improvisers.
