Description:
A Storied Sea is an audio-literary work by writer and researcher Caleb Johnston developed as part of Intersections. Composer James Maxwell layered recordings of Johnston's grandfather telling stories from his youth as a squatter on Vancouver's waterfront with trombone lines performed by Jeremy Berkman. The audio was set to a time-lapse video of Jericho Beach’s shoreline recorded on October 13, 2009.
Intersections was an artistic inquiry into social and economic convergences, geographic landmarks, and reminiscences about current and historical thoroughfares.
Video documentation of this event is available upon request.
